Our client is a large, diversified, and integrated forest products company which stands as the global leader in sustainable forest management practices. The mill is located in Southern B.C near Kimberley and Cranbrook. Residents are welcoming and down to earth, and love the outdoors. There are many recreational activities including: fishing, hunting, hiking, and hot springs, all within the city limits.
As a Power and Recovery Shift Engineer, you will coordinate and maintain activities in the department to achieve maximum production while meeting cost, health, safety, environment, quality and human resource objectives in compliance with corporate principles and guidelines also applicable legislation.
Terms of Employment: Permanent, Full Time – Contract may be considered
Shifts: 3 day tours: 12 hour shifts – 3 days on, 3days off, 3 nights, 3 off
Salary: $90,000-110,000/yr. depending up on experience

Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years of experience working in a pulp mill and excellent supervisory skills and experience is required – preferably in a unionized environment.
Education: 2nd Class Power Engineer Certification
Responsibilities & Duties: - Reports to Manager, Power and Recovery - Supervises a crew of up to 9 employees on each shift - Determine existing and potential production bottlenecks and take appropriate action - Investigate accidents, environmental occurrences and other incidence in a timely fashion, to take immediate corrective action and to complete appropriate reports - Report to the Day Superintendent and Manager P&R, each shift’s significant activities, existing and potential bottlenecks, quality concerns and opportunities - Manage the P&R during night shifts and weekends and report to on-call person and/or Day Superintendent as required. - Provide support to Day Superintendent by supervising and coaching shift operating and maintenance employees (particularly on the off shifts) to achieve maximum performance including the recommendation of disciplinary action. - Coordinate maintenance activities with Maintenance Supervisor. - Ensure each day the mill is operated in accordance with health, safety and environmental regulation and company policy. - Promote and provide a safe work place and implement and maintain a health & safety and housekeeping programs. - Support the implementation of systems to meet QMS (ISO 9001), EMS (ISO 14001) and OHSAS (18001) standards. - Comply with collective agreement and foster sound union/management/employee relations - Ensure mill operates as per standard operating procedures - Remain apprised of current SOP’s.
