Terms of Employment: Permanent Full-Time
Salary: $84,322 – $99,202 per year depending upon experience plus an extensive benefits package.
Benefits: There is an annual vacation allowance benefit of $1,300 for the employee and $850 for spouse and dependents, employees are eligible for this after their first anniversary. Contributions to our RRSP pension are 6% of base salary and this is matched, 6% by the corporation. There is a 3 month waiting period for extended health and dental. All life insurance and AD&D are activated on hire date. Annual vacation starts at 4 weeks per year prorated in the first year of employment.

You will be responsible for all engineering, design, and estimating services including procedures, preparation, submissions, and tendering systems, as well as the supervision and management of engineering and estimating personnel primarily on Electrical Utility projects.

Experience
5-10 years of experience in electric utility construction – distribution and transmission lines, substations, underground installations.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Computer proficiency – Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook. AutoCad, estimating and other specialty software as required.
Qualifications
Professional Engineer or Registered Technologist certification preferred, or technical trade certification (Power Lineman). Computer skills in Microsoft Office. Demonstrated ability in estimating software or excel with a willness to learn. 5-10 years demonstrated Estimating experience.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist in the networking and marketing of the corporation to owners, consultants, and other clients. Assist in planning for the corporation by pursuing all project leads and market opportunities.
Assist in establishing / review of all ACE standard procedures and contract forms with owners, consultants, and subcontractors.
Provide recommendations on project methods, materials, and systems.
Negotiate short and long term pricing agreements with suppliers and subcontractors. Oversee relationships with suppliers and subcontractors and resolve any issues.
Responsible for all estimating services, tender submissions, and proposals including preparation and assembly of all requited information and documentation. Draw on other resources as required and as appropriate.
Provide timely, complete and accurate information to senior management as necessary for ongoing operations and reporting purposes.
Review, analyze and check for completeness of bid documents. Query consultants as required to clear up and ambiguities/errors/omissions in tender documents prior to tender closing.
Attend pre-tender meetings and site visits required and report to office.
Prepare tender results and post tender analyses as appropriate and as required.
Quantity take-offs.
Provide timely, complete and accurate information to senior management as necessary for ongoing operations and reporting purposes.
Ensure execution and distribution of the Preliminary descriptive Summary.
Responsible for the generation of all estimates including subcontractor pricing, overheads, direct work, productivities, and labor and materials pricing. Execute bid forms including the submission of all security, bonding, and insurance requirements.
Summarize quantities, prepare spreadsheets for alternate and separate prices as required for tenders.
Review assembled bid and provide risk analysis and cost and schedule impacts of the various alternative construction methods and materials with senior management.
Supervise and manage estimating and project management personnel and assist in determining staff requirements, evaluations, and recruiting.
Help ensure that all project set up requirements, contractual issues, and subcontracts are in place prior to work starting in site.

The position is specifically for Transmission Line Projects. As the Project Manager you will be responsible for estimating and pre-construction services, and organization, planning, and execution of projects procured in accordance with policies, procedures, and processes, including effective project management and operation of work crews for the Transmission Division.

-Responsible for successful planning and execution of Transmission projects, including profitability, effective project management, costing, risk management, scheduling, safety performance, and administration, all in accordance with policies, procedures and processes.
-Organize and supervise all site staff, subcontractors, equipment, and materials in the most efficient and expedient manner to maximize efficiency and profitability.
-Monitor jobs progress, availability of personnel, equipment requirements, job morale, adequacy of work force and subcontractor performance. Ensure maintenance of quality standards and compliance with job requirements and specifications. Review job costs and schedules with field supervision and enact remedial action if/as required.
-Assist in the review and analysis of project status reports, cost reports, and schedules. Provide projections, forecasts, and direction to management, accounting and administration regarding projects and related matters.
-Collaborate with estimating department in the preparation of tenders and proposals as required and appropriate.
-As per established procedures, actively pursue accounts receivables for payment. If necessary, and after consultation with Senior Management initiate any extraordinary collections proceedings.
-Review, and approve for payment, material supply and subcontract invoices prior to submission for processing and payment.
-Ensure that all contractual obligations of the project are understood and met by all parties.
-Prepare and submit all progress claims and progress reports. Assist the Accounting Department in follow-up and collection of payments.
-Assist in the preparation of construction management submissions, project budgets, or contract negotiations. Assist in the company marketing effort where appropriate and as directed.

Skills and Abilities:
The ideal candidate has demonstrated knowledge, skills, and understanding of all types of electrical utility equipment used in the construction, operation and maintenance of transmission and distribution line systems. Some knowledge of the principles of electric theory as applied to electric distribution and transmission systems is necessary. Knowledge of first aid including artificial respiration is essential.
The ideal candidate will also safely be able to climb poles and work with high tension wires, expertly using line tools and testing equipment, and sufficient health and strength to perform heavy manual and climbing tasks in adverse weather conditions
